Battery Care

Lithium-ion batteries don’t have a set expiration date, and their lifespan depends on how you charge them, use them, and store them. Over time, battery life is expected to naturally decrease. Here are some general battery care tips that can help extend the life of products with batteries:

Avoid Extreme Temperatures

Batteries can be damaged by exposure to extreme heat or cold. Keep your products with batteries away from direct sunlight, sources of heat, or freezing temperatures.

Use the Correct Charger

All batteries have specific charging requirements, so it’s important to use the correct charger for your device. Do not use third-party chargers or chargers that are not recommended by the manufacturer.

Do Not Overcharge

Overcharging can cause the battery to degrade faster. Once the battery is fully charged, unplug it from the charger.

Keep the Battery Charged

Batteries can degrade if left discharged for extended periods. Charge the battery regularly, even if you are not using the product.

Avoid Deep Discharges

Deep discharges can also shorten the life of the battery. Try to avoid letting the battery completely run down before recharging.

Store Batteries Properly

If you are not going to use the device for a long time, store it with the battery partially charged. If you are removing the battery, store it separately in a cool, dry place.

Cardo Battery Specific Guidance

The good news is that you can slow down the deterioration pace considerably by following these easy-to-implement practices:

  • Avoid Draining Out Your Battery: Deep, full charges stress your power unit. Prefer more frequent shallow discharges and charges, reducing strain on the battery. Charge your Cardo unit when it reaches about 20-30% battery left and unplug it once it reaches around 80-90% battery.
  • Periodic Charging: Don’t store your unit for long periods without charging it periodically. Charge your communicator at least once a quarter.
  • Use Genuine Chargers: Protect your charging efficiency by using genuine chargers and cables made for your device and avoid cheap hardware from questionable sources.

Clim8 Battery Specific Guidance

If you use your product every day, you can leave the batteries in the garment, as it will automatically go into Sleep mode and consume almost no battery. For long-term storage, disconnect the battery from the product. We recommend discharging and recharging the batteries halfway at least every 6 months. Keep your garment in a dry, temperate, and ventilated place, away from shocks or the weight of other objects.

Dos

  • Use the correct charger.
  • Store batteries properly.

Don’ts

  • Avoid draining out your battery.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures.

Following these tips can help prolong the life of the battery and prevent issues like overheating, swelling, or reduced capacity. Always refer to the manufacturer’s instructions for specific battery care recommendations for your product.
