- The ear muffs inflate approximately 1/8" on each side. They won’t inflate more than that and will leak extra air. The air muff hose assembly has sealant on the hose connection. The hose connection is a single hose to both ear muffs.
- If it is a slow leak, try to determine the issue by removing the cheek pads, pumping up the earmuffs to full (firm to the touch), then pressing one side of the ear muffs.
- If the commander air pressure release button broke off, consider a warranty helmet replacement.

How do I remove the shield on a Mach V or Delta V Commander Helmet?
- Start by opening your shield, typically with the helmet facing towards you. Reach down to the shield base plate and find the little trigger or shutter. Pull it towards you to release the part of the shield that pops off at the pivot point. The detent or knob inside the pivot point will pop out as well.
- Repeat on the other side. Grab the release, pull towards you, and it will pop out. The shield is removed.
How do I replace the shield on a Mach V or Delta V Commander Helmet?
- Take your replacement shield, available in various colors, tints, and mirrors.
- Align the peg that pops out in the last shield with the hole on the shield base plate. Align the detent (knob) in the semi-circle opening at the top of the shield plate. You should hear a click to know it is flush against the helmet shell. This ensures the shield is properly placed to avoid any closing or breaking issues.
- Press the shield into place. The spring mechanism will grab the peg and hold the shield in place. Repeat on the other side.
