3 connection options with Commander Helmet:
- Pairing to Phone --> Single user to mobile device
- Bluetooth Helmet Connection --> One user connecting to other users via Bluetooth
- DMC Mesh Connection --> One user connecting to other users via DMC
Pairing Your Cardo Helmet to Your Phone
Directions when user wants to pair with their individual mobile device to play music, answer calls, etc. This is not Bluetooth connection to other communications units.
Steps to Pair with Mobile Device
Turn on the Helmet:
- Press the Power and Accessory buttons simultaneously for 2 seconds.
- Enter pairing mode by pressing the Power button for 5 seconds.
- The helmet will show red and blue lights and announce when it is in pairing mode.
Enable Bluetooth on Mobile Device:
- Go to Settings on your phone and turn on Bluetooth.
- In Settings > Bluetooth, find and select “Delta V” to pair.
- On an iPhone, you will be prompted to “Pair” in a smaller window.
- On an Android device, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the pairing.
Install the Cardo App:
- Download and install the Cardo Connect app from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Create an account if you haven’t already.
- Enter pairing mode in the app.
- If the helmet doesn’t appear, try closing and reopening the app.
Update Firmware:
- If there is a software update available for the helmet, the app will prompt you to install it.
- This update includes firmware to connect to other Cardo and non-Cardo communication units.
Troubleshooting Tips
- Ensure Bluetooth is On: Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- Select Helmet in Phone Bluetooth Settings: Pair the helmet directly in your phone’s Bluetooth settings, not through the Cardo app.
- Update the Cardo App: Ensure the Cardo app is updated to the latest version.
Creating a group (App)
Creating a group in the Cardo Connect app is straightforward. Here are the steps:
- Open the Cardo Connect app on your smartphone.
- Select your device from the list of paired devices.
- Go to the Intercom section and choose the option to create a new group.
- Add riders by selecting their devices from the list or by scanning for nearby devices.
- Name your group and save it.
Creating a group DMC Pairing Mode (Helmet)
- Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC): This technology allows seamless communication with up to 15 riders. It automatically reconnects if someone drops out of range and ensures a stable connection without manual reconnections
- Group Creation and Management: You can create and manage groups through the Cardo Connect app. This includes adding or removing members and naming your group for easy identification
- Voice Commands: Cardo units support voice commands, making it easy to control your device hands-free. You can initiate group intercom, check battery status, and more by simply speaking commands
- Battery Life: Ensure your unit is fully charged before long rides. The battery life can vary depending on usage, but typically, it lasts up to 13 hours of talk time
- Audio Quality: Cardo units come with JBL speakers, providing clear and high-quality sound. The volume adjusts automatically based on ambient noise
- Waterproof and Durable: Cardo units are designed to withstand various weather conditions, so you don’t have to worry about rain or dust
Directions when user wants to pair with other communications units via DMC Mesh. This is not the connection if user wants to connect to individual mobile device or want to connect through Bluetooth to other communications units.
Create New Group: Press and hold Comms Button for 5 seconds.

Switching from DMC to Bluetooth:
Switch Intercom: Press and hold the Music and Comms button for 10 seconds.
Group Sharing Troubleshooting for Cardo Units
The “Rider A busy” message on your Cardo unit typically means that the rider you’re trying to connect with is already engaged in another call or intercom session. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

- Check Current Connections: Ensure that Rider A is not currently on another call or intercom session. They might need to end their current connection before you can connect.
- Restart Devices: Turn off both your Cardo unit and Rider A’s unit, then turn them back on. This can sometimes resolve connectivity issues.
- Re-pair Devices: Remove the existing pairing between your Cardo units and re-pair them. This can help reset the connection.
- To Remove Pairing: Go to the Bluetooth settings on your Cardo unit and delete the paired device.
- To Re-pair: Put both units in pairing mode and follow the pairing instructions.
- Update Firmware: Ensure that both Cardo units have the latest firmware updates. You can check for updates using the Cardo Connect app or the Cardo website.
- Reset to Factory Settings: If the issue persists, you might need to reset your Cardo unit to factory settings. Refer to your user manual for specific instructions on how to do this.
- Check for Interference: Ensure there are no other Bluetooth devices nearby that might be causing interference.
Battery Troubleshooting for Cardo Units
Charging Indicators
- Red Solid Light: Indicates that the battery is currently charging.
- Green Light: Indicates that the battery is fully charged.
- Cardo Connect App or voice commands to check the battery status. Just say, “Hey Cardo, battery status,” and it will tell you the current battery level
Correct Charging Method
- Charger Connection: Ensure the male end of the charger (the longer end) is fully inserted into the charging port of your Cardo unit.

How do I know my unit is charging?
- When the unit is connected to the charger and the charge indicator light shows a red solid light, it means the battery is charging.
How do I know my unit is fully charged?
- When the charge indicator light turns green, it means the battery is fully charged.
Additional Tips
- Charging Time: Leave the unit charging for at least 4 hours to ensure a full charge
- Different Charger: If the unit doesn’t seem to be charging, try using a different wall charger and USB cable
- Firmware Updates: Make sure your Cardo unit has the latest firmware updates, as these can sometimes resolve charging issues.
Pairing and Managing Intercom Channels on Cardo Units
Pair to Rider A or B
- Pairing to Rider A (default) or B:
- Depress the Intercom button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode. Rider A will be the default connection.
Exit Bluetooth Intercom Pairing
- Exit Pairing Mode:
- Depress the Intercom button for 2 seconds to exit Bluetooth intercom pairing mode.
Open Bluetooth Intercom Channels
- Open Channels A and B:
- Depress the Intercom button to open both intercom channels A and B.
Close Bluetooth Intercom Channels
- Close Channels A and B:
- Depress the Intercom button to close both intercom channels A and B.
Reset System for Cardo Units
Hard Reset
- Steps:
- Press and hold the Comms button and the Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
- Confirmation:
- The unit will power off and then restart, indicating that the reset was successful.
Factory Reset
- Steps:
- Press and hold the Comms button, Power button, and Music button simultaneously for 6 seconds.
- Confirmation:
- The LED will flash purple, and the unit will turn off, indicating that the factory reset was successful.
Re-pairing Your Helmet to the App
After performing a reset, you will need to re-pair your helmet to the Cardo Connect app:
- Open the Cardo Connect App: Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
- Pairing Mode: Put your Cardo unit into pairing mode.
- Follow Instructions: Use the app to complete the pairing process.
Other
Heated Shield Controls:
- Default Heat Shield On: Press and hold the Comms button for 2 seconds (12V indication).
- Turn Heat Shield Off/On: Press and hold the Accessory button for 5 seconds (12V indication).
- Heat Shield Off: No 12V indication.
Tail Light Controls:
- Turn Tail Light Off/On (Default = On):
- With 12V Indication: Double press the Accessory button.
- Without 12V Indication: Double press the Accessory button.
- My microphone isn’t working?
- Is your helmet on mute?
- Perform a factory reset, commands might be stacked.
- Soften road noise
- Check and adjust/close Venturi venting shutters
- Make sure shield is properly closed
- Adjust ear muffs using the Velcro to better fit individual ears
- Get static sounds
- Radio frequency range is getting near it’s max. Group is getting farther away from each other
